Chaps, Temperament wise, is about the sweetest and laid back dogs we have yet had the pleasure to own, Having claimed a place on the couch, happy to go on a run, but willing to just hang out and a real "off" switch. He takes everything in stride, is great with puppies, other boys and a get along with everyone personality. Chaps IS being worked on stock, He is loosed eyed, close and calm and quiet on sheep. He has shown some natural balance and is very biddable to commands. On Judge has commented he has just enough larceny in his heart to make training him interesting. So far.. We ventured into the more official herding venues with him. Competition,something that is VERY new for us too. Although we have worked our dogs on stock have never attempted titles with them. Chaps has Easily attained is Herding instinct certificate, His HT in AKC along with one PT leg in only 3 days of trials. He got His Started Stock Dog title in ASCA and would have had better scores with a better handler.. So far he has only been worked on sheep, Cattle and ducks are in the future. Not too bad for a such a pretty boy. Chaps is a clean honest mover, Not a flashy as some, Moderate side gait and very clean coming and going. He has Majors in both AKC and ASCA. Although we do plan on Finishing his CH, and will do so.. Frankly, right now, Our priority is to get lots of time on stock. And to title him in this venue in the immediate future, along with perhaps some other performance titles.
